Outlook Express 4.0

Error: "Only two connections allowed"

By default, Outlook will automatically display newsgroup messages as they are downloaded. It will also open a connection for sending messages, along with an extra "floating" connection. When it tries to open all three connections at once, you will reach the connection limit for the Airnews Lite and Airnews Classic accounts. In order to fix this, you can disable the "Auto Preview" option in Outlook to save an extra connection. Here are the steps:

Tools Menu
  • Click on the Tools menu, then choose Options.
  • Click on the Read tab.

    Read Tab

  • Remove the check next to Automatically show news messages in the Preview Pane.
  • Click the OK button

This should help Outlook avoid encountering the "Only two connection allowed" error message.
