Email Filters in Eudora 4.3

Filters are a great way to automatically handle your incoming or outgoing mail based on certain criteria. They save you the time and effort normally used to sort through your email, especially if you receive a lot of email daily.

Tools Menu
  • Click on the Tools menu, then choose Filters.

    Filters

  • This will bring up a window that lists your current filters. From here you can add to and delete these filters.
  • To add a new filter click the New button.

    New Filter

For this example we will choose to match incoming mail which contains the word spam in the subject.
  • In the Header box, select Subject from the dropdown list.
  • In the box to the right of contains, we type spam.
  • Finally, in the Action section at the bottom, we choose Transfer To in the dropdown list. A button will appear to the right. Click on this button and choose Trash from the popup menu.
  • Close this window by clicking the X in the top corner. Make sure you save your changes when it prompts you.

Eudora is now setup with your very first filter! As you become more familiar with filters, you can create a filter to do just about anything!
