Email Filters in Calypso

Filters in Calypso are a little more complex than other email programs. This allows for a VERY versatile and powerful filtering system. For a full description of filter definitions, see the help file. For our example, we will keep the filter VERY simple.

Mailbox Menu
  • Click on the Mailbox menu, then choose Filters, then choose Add.

    Filters

  • This will bring up a window that lists your current filters. From here you can add to and delete these filters.
  • First we need to give a name to our filters. In the Filter definition name box, type a name for the new filters.
  • Click the Add button.

    New Filter

For this example we will choose to match incoming mail which contains the word spam in the subject.
  • In the What Pattern to Search For box, type the word spam.
  • In the in box to the right, check Subject.
  • In the What Action to Take sectin, check Move to folder. Then choose the Wastebasket when prompted.
  • Click the OK button.

    Filters

  • You should now see your new filter in the list.
  • Click the Save button to save your new filter(s).

Calypso is now setup with your very first filter! As you become more familiar with filters, you can create a filter to do just about anything!
